Snow and cold weather threatened ranchers on the Plains as milder weather moved into the Midwest following a night of rain, winds and thunderstorms that killed one male motorist in Indiana and injured another. Severe thunderstorms over Arkansas and west Tennessee followed a cold front across the Midwest and lower Ohio Valley as hail and strong winds also swept parts of Illinois and Missouri. A storm bearing cold air and high wind dumped up to a foot of snow on Colorado and rain changing to snow spread across the Plains. Boise, Ida., chilled to a record low of 23 and Klamath Falls, Ore., tied its record of 17.
