A Van Nuys man was killed early Sunday when he was struck by a car in a crosswalk in Marina del Rey, authorities said.
The 67-year-old victim was attempting to cross Admiralty Way near Palawan Way about 12:45 a.m. when he was hit by a car driven by Gregory Banfield, 30, of Marina del Rey, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said. Banfield was traveling about 50 m.p.h. in a 35-m.p.h. zone, said Officer Steven Lewis.
The victim, whose name was withheld until relatives were notified, was pronounced dead shortly after 1:30 a.m. at Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital. Banfield was not arrested, but Lewis said manslaughter charges may be filed against him.
