A small coalition of peace groups picketed in front of radio station KFWB-AM on Wednesday because the station refused to carry a radio ad read by actor Ed Asner promoting a symbolic national referendum to halt U.S. military involvement in Central America. The ad, which announces a rally Sunday in front of the Federal Building in West Los Angeles, will be carried by three FM stations: KJOI, KSRF and KTWV. Nine other local AM and FM stations refused to carry the ad, Bryne said. Steve Fisher, KFWB’s general manager, said that the station routinely refuses to carry ads that take a political position.
