A convicted murderer who escaped from the Contra Costa County jail with another prisoner a week ago was apprehended after a robbery and car chase in San Francisco, police reported. Willie Johnson, 26, was arrested after he allegedly robbed two men, forced one of them to strip and took their car, police said. Officers chased the car until it stopped in a parking lot. Johnson then started running and jumped a fence into a backyard, where officers found him hiding. He was booked for investigation of armed robbery, auto theft and possessing a loaded firearm, a revolver found in the car. Johnson was to be sentenced earlier this week after a June 1 conviction in the murder of a Richmond woman, Willie Womble. He also was being held on parole violation. The other escapee, Phillip Jackson, 27, remains at large.
