A Continental Airlines jet skidded off a runway, blew seven tires and got stuck in the mud at Stapleton International Airport in Denver when the pilot aborted the takeoff after an electrical malfunction in the cockpit, an airport spokesman said. The malfunction caused several gauges to fail, triggering warning lights just as the Airbus A-300 was approaching air speed. None of the crew members or 283 passengers aboard Continental Flight 517 to Seattle were injured, officials said.
