A 67-year-old woman was stabbed to death and her companion, a 74-year-old man, was wounded early Thursday, police said.
Police received calls at 7:45 a.m. about the stabbing in a home in the 200 block of Sandstone Street, said Lt. Dean Girdner. Officers found the victims in a bedroom. According to police, the victims were renting a room in the house.
The woman, Amalia Redondo, was declared dead at the scene with multiple stab wounds, according to the San Diego County Coroner’s office. The man, Teodorico Kadina, was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center where he underwent surgery for a stomach wound, a hospital spokesman said. Kadina was listed in fair condition Friday.
Girdner is heading an investigation and said police have obtained a warrant to search the house.
