Sixteen employees of the county Department of Health Services are among 27 climbers planning to scale 14,494-foot Mt. Whitney on Sunday to raise money for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation.
The group will be led by Richard Rioux of Valencia.
Each climber is required to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges and together the climbers have a goal of $3,000. The March of Dimes supports medical services, educational programs and research in the area of birth defects.
