Monroe 36, Birmingham 22--Curtis Scott rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns as Monroe won its first league game and knocked Birmingham out of playoff contention.
Monroe (4-4, 1-4 in league play) put the game out of reach on Scott’s 24-yard touchdown run to open the fourth quarter. The score gave the Vikings a 29-14 lead.
Birmingham (4-5, 2-3 in league play) quarterback Alan Sedacca completed 27 of 45 passes for 317 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was intercepted three times.
Monroe had 338 yards in total offense, including 288 yards rushing. Quarterback Kesa Harding scored on a one-yard run, the first of his two touchdowns, to give Monroe an early 6-0 lead.
