U.S. military police in Thailand found the body of an American sailor from the aircraft carrier Ranger in a hotel room at a popular seaside resort, U.S. officials said. Local police said the sailor, who was not identified pending notification of next of kin, apparently died of a heart attack. Another sailor from the Ranger, Todd K. Unzuenta, 19, of Torrance, Calif., was killed earlier this week in a shoot-out with Thai police, who claimed the serviceman was drunk. U.S. Navy officials and Thai police are investigating the incident.
