For Would-Be Whistle-Blowers

The Center for Law in the Public Interest has set up toll-free telephone numbers--(800) 6-FRAUD-6 in California and (800) 2-FRAUD-2 elsewhere--for would-be whistle-blowers to call with information that could lead to bounty-sharing litigation. The federal False Claims Act permits citizens to sue in fraud cases of which they have knowledge. In California, a state version of the same law becomes effective Jan. 1 and applies to all agencies of government at the state and local levels.
