‘Breaking Old Habits’ to Clean Air, Clear Traffic

Reference is made to your lead editorial on clean-air policy (“Breaking Old Habits,” Dec. 17).
Each of us who drives a car is a culprit, who must be educated. This means car-pooling or ride-sharing.
Why in God’s name does not someone other than Channel 7 address the issue of massive trucks belching diesel fumes, city-county-state and federal vehicles being exempt from controls. Please!
I suppose it’s “Whose ox is being gored.”
I drive a 4-cylinder Volkswagen. It must be tested every other year. The diesel engine of an 18-wheel rig or a Los Angeles bus is never checked to bring either into compliance with “clean air” standards.
Let us be fair.
