Saudi King Accuses Iran of Territorial Ambitions in War

Associated Press

King Fahd accused Iran on Sunday of pursuing territorial ambitions and urged its leaders to instead join Arabs in trying to “liberate” Jerusalem from Israeli occupation.

Fahd commented as he and other Persian Gulf Arab leaders met to plot military strategy and diplomatic action to deter Iranian attacks on their coast lines and oil tanker routes.

Fahd, chairman of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council, said Iran is “directing arrows at our hearts instead of helping us to liberate Jerusalem and the Arab Islamic territories in Palestine.”

He charged that Iranian leaders are motivated by “territorial ambitions and (the desire for) hegemony, and exporting ideologies alien to our Arab and Islamic societies.”
