THE PREPS : Empire League Basketball : Los Alamitos Beats Loara to Win Title

Guard Brett Pagett scored 23 points and center Dre Lamoureux added 19 to lead Los Alamitos High School to a 67-58 Empire League victory over Loara Friday at Loara.
The victory, coupled with Esperanza’s loss to Cypress, clinched the league championship for Los Alamitos (17-6, 8-0).
Loara held a 13-5 lead after the first quarter. But Los Alamitos outscored Loara, 49-32, in the second and third quarter.
Monttes Whitlock scored 21 points to lead Loara (4-5, 0-8).
Katella 74, El Dorado 70--Ian Donnelly scored 25 points and Dave Scott added 15 to lead Katella (6-14, 2-6) at El Dorado. Charles Stevens’ 21 points led El Dorado. Chris Facione added 20 points for El Dorado (11-9, 4-4).
Cypress 78, Esperanza 66--Greg Bedford scored 27 points and teammate Bond Weaver added 16 points as the Centurions won.
