Gerry McNamara was fired as the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Gord Stellick, Maple Leafs’ assistant general manager, said owner Harold Ballard gave McNamara “the opportunity to resign but he chose to be fired. Mr. Ballard will name a replacement in the near future.”
The Maple Leafs have won only once in their last 22 games, dating to Dec. 23.
