PCAA Roundup : Las Vegas Gets San Jose State on Run

Gerald Paddio scored 23 points and Jarvis Basnight had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead 11th-ranked Nevada Las Vegas to an 85-68 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. victory over San Jose State Saturday at Las Vegas.
UNLV (23-3 overall, 12-2 in the PCAA) used a pressing defense to build a 44-22 halftime lead. The Runnin’ Rebels outscored the Spartans, 18-5, to break away from a 16-13 lead and take a 34-18 lead four minutes before intermission..
The Rebels led by as many as 26 points in the second half, 50-24, with 18 minutes remaining.
Ricky Berry scored 19 and Rodney Scott 10 for San Jose State (10-14, 5-10), which lost its seventh straight game.
UC Santa Barbara 77, Fresno State 60--Sophomore reserve Mike Doyle scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Gauchos to a victory over the Bulldogs at Goleta and into a tie for second.
Brian Johnson scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half to help the Gauchos to a 34-20 lead at intermission.
The Gauchos moved to 11-4 in the PCAA and into a tie with Utah State, which lost to Cal State Fullerton. UC Santa Barbara is 19-5 overall.
Jervis Cole scored 22 points for Fresno State, 8-15 overall and 5-9 in the conference.
