The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday that it was investigating the reported rape and kidnaping of two runaway juvenile girls, who said they were attacked by a truck driver after he picked them up in Los Angeles. The girls, aged 12 and 14, were described as dazed when they were discovered on a Santa Rosa street late Friday night. Sonoma County Deputy Sheriff Gary Zappa said the 14-year-old was a runaway from Eureka and the 12-year-old was a runaway from Azusa. Another deputy said the girls had been taken to a rape crisis center in Santa Rosa but no one there was available for comment on the girls’ condition Sunday. The girls were not hospitalized. Sheriff’s Lt. David Nagle said the girls gave a description of their attacker and the truck, which deputies believe was driven back to Los Angeles.
