Two veteran San Francisco firefighters were suspended without pay on charges they roughed up three top officers last year in a racially motivated bar brawl. Anthony Serpa, a 12-year veteran, was suspended for six days, and Walter Glynn, an 18-year veteran, received a four-day suspension in a plea bargain worked out at a Fire Commission meeting. The department dropped charges of violence, disobedience and insubordination in exchange for the two accepting the sanctions, Capt. Michael McKinley said. Serpa and Glynn, after a night of drinking with fellow firefighters, allegedly threatened, poked at and “manhandled” the department’s training director and two captains over their role in bringing black and women rookies into the department.
