3 Saudi Diplomats Shot in Nigeria

LAGOS, Nigeria — A masked man shot and wounded three Saudi Arabian diplomats in an ambush in the parking lot of a Lagos hotel, it was reported today.

A fourth diplomat escaped injury and chased the gunman, the government-owned paper, the New Nigerian, reported. It said the assailant escaped over a nearby wall. The four Saudis were fired upon as they left the Eko Holiday Inn in a car at 2 a.m. Sunday, the paper said. It said the gunman apparently had been waiting for them. Two of the wounded diplomats are in serious condition and the third suffered a less severe wound, the paper said.
