St. Mary’s Takes Two From USIU

The St. Mary’s baseball team scored nine runs in the fifth inning of the second game en route to a doubleheader sweep of U.S. International University on Sunday.
St. Mary’s sent 13 hitters to the plate in the fifth in the 11-5 second-game victory. St. Mary’s (5-3) had won the first game, 7-6. Jerry Benavides hit a home run in each game for USIU (9-14-1), his first two of the season.
VOLLEYBALL
The San Diego Volleyball Club defeated Asics Tiger of Santa Fe Springs in a U.S. Volleyball Assn. junior tournament at the Federal Building in Balboa Park.
Led by Alicia Turner, a junior from the University of San Diego High School, the San Diego club took a 15-12, 13-15, 15-10 victory in the finals.
