THE COLLEGES : Community College Roundup : Moore Throws One-Hitter as Cypress Wins

Colleen Moore pitched a one-hitter and had 11 strikeouts Friday to lead Cypress College to a 5-0 victory over Citrus in an Orange Empire Conference softball game at Cypress.
Moore had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning but gave up a one-out single. Jamie Megna had two hits and Priscilla VillaGomez had two hits and an RBI for Cypress (22-11 overall, 10-3 in conference), which scored one run in the first inning and four runs in the fourth inning. Citrus is 4-12, 0-9.
In another Orange Empire Conference game:
Saddleback 4, Orange Coast 0--Patty Taylor (24-2) pitched her 28th career one-hitter to lead host Saddleback (25-3, 12-0). Taylor struck out five without a walk. Saddleback had eight hits to support Taylor.
Rancho Santiago 7, Riverside 3--Lolly Figuera went 2 for 2 with one RBI and three runs scored for host Rancho Santiago (13-13, 7-5).
In South Coast Conference softball:
Golden West 3, Cerritos 0--Jessica Duran pitched a four-hitter and had an RBI single for host Golden West (12-11, 7-3). Duran, Tina Burranco and Kathy Ellis had RBI singles for Golden West, which scored all three runs in the second inning.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s swimming:
Orange Coast 75, Riverside 22, Rancho Santiago 22--Nate Kinney swam the state’s fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle to lead host Orange Coast (4-1, 4-0). Kinney’s time was 1 minute 46.79 seconds.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s swimming:
Orange Coast 85, Riverside 24, Rancho Santiago 16--Patti Read won the 100- and 200-yard individual medleys, as host Orange Coast (5-0, 4-0) won its 62 consecutive meet.
