An off-duty Pasadena police officer was killed in Pomona when a big rig truck hit his motorcycle on the freeway, tossing him 120 feet onto a street below, authorities said.
Keith Oneal Washington, 24, of Ontario, a Pasadena patrol officer since December, 1986, died at the scene, Pasadena Police Lt. Lynn Froistad said.
Washington was headed home from work on the Pomona Freeway when the truck sideswiped a car, then slammed into the motorcycle at 4:46 p.m. Wednesday, California Highway Patrol Officer Richard Perez said.
The truck driver, who was not arrested or cited, was uninjured. The crash was under investigation, police said.
