Local News in Brief : Flooded Street Collapses

Part of a busy South Gate street flooded by a broken water main sank 12 feet and was closed Friday as repairs continued.
The main broke about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, slowly causing the 100-foot stretch of Firestone Boulevard between Garfield Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard to drop and eventually leaving a hole 21 feet by 15 feet, South Gate Police Sgt. Russ Galbreath said.
