Pitcher Dawn Wood threw her second consecutive perfect game Thursday as the Castle Park High School softball team beat Chula Vista, 2-0.
Wood (9-3) tied the national record set by Burbank’s Debbie Day, according to the National High School Sports Record Book.
Last Tuesday, Wood shut down Montgomery, 11-0. She had 15 strikeouts in the two games.
Cassandra Tex of Crawford High School struck out 17 Lincoln batters, or all but four, in an 8-0 victory Thursday. In Crawford’s 8-5 victory over Mission Bay last Tuesday, Tex struck out 10, hit a homer and a triple and scored three times.
“She’s an exceptional player,” Crawford Coach Eric Romer said. Although Tex has lost three of her eight decisions, “she has not pitched a bad game yet,” Romer said.
