Wiley Is Olympic Hopeful

Cal State Long Beach guard Morlon Wiley, who averaged 20 points a game for the 49ers this season, will be among 93 players who will try out for the U.S. Olympic basketball team May 18-24 in Colorado Springs.
Softball’s Men of Steele
Steele’s, a nationally known softball team that specializes in hitting home runs, will play the Norwalk Dukes Saturday night at 7 at Zimmerman Park, 13031 Shoemaker Road. Steele’s is 87-4 this season, averaging 31 runs and 16 homers a game. Their top slugger is Mike Macenko, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound second baseman who hit 844 homers last year.
King Tennis Exhibition
On the courts where she learned to play tennis, Billie Jean King will conduct a free clinic April 30 at 1 p.m. at the center named for her at 1040 Park Ave. in Long Beach. There also will be a mixed doubles exhibition with King and pro player John Lloyd.
