A Few Words for Friends of Library

Thank you for your generous and insightful coverage of the non-book services of the Beverly Hills Public Library.
In an otherwise factually accurate article there was one error of omission, however: No mention was made of the Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library, without whose generous contributions our audio-visual collections would be greatly diminished. It was thanks to seed money from the Friends, for example, that we were able to begin our 16-millimeter film and video-cassette collections. And it is thanks to the continuing support of the Friends that all of our collections continue to be enhanced. This year alone, the Friends have donated to the library 47 full-length opera videos, 20 classic PBS series on video, the current PBS series, “Voices and Visions,” about American poetry, films about Chaplin, Erte and Monet and 300 compact discs.
Thank you for sharing this information with your readers.
