‘Stammheim’
West Germany, 1986, 107 minutes 10:15 p.m . Director Reinhard Hauff and writer Stefan Aust use the transcripts of the 1975 Baader-Meinhof trial to create an engrossing and deeply disturbing drama. Although bright and articulate, the political terrorists are determinedly incorrigible and outrageously insulting. Still, it’s clear they don’t receive a fair trial, ironically damning the State more effectively than any of their lethal acts. RECOMMENDED.
