Local News in Brief : Trial in Mobil Picket Case Set for March

A man charged with running over two pickets at the Mobil Oil refinery in March has been ordered to stand trial in Torrance Superior Court on two counts of attempted murder.
Onna Brown, 21, worked at the refinery for Excel Security Service of Gardena but was not on duty when he visited the refinery March 15. Witnesses testified in South Bay Municipal Court that Brown appeared to become agitated after being heckled by pickets from the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union who went on strike Feb. 4.
Evert Jenkins, 49, recovered from leg injuries, testified against Brown on Wednesday. Juan Canizales, 48, has been hospitalized with severe head injuries since being run over, Deputy Dist. Atty. Patricia Flanigan said.
