Edward H. Reichard; Motion Picture Engineer
Edward H. Reichard, 76, an engineer whose technical contributions to the motion picture industry brought him six Academy Awards. The retired vice president of engineering for Consolidated Film Industries was cited for such varied inventions as an automatic scene counter, color proofing printer and light valve monitoring system. Reichard joined Consolidated in 1933 and retired in 1983. In 1976, he received the Progress Medal, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers’ highest award. In Santa Monica on April 28 of heart failure.
