Local News in Brief : Bernardi Out of Lawsuit

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charles E. Jones has dismissed Los Angeles City Councilman Ernani Bernardi as a plaintiff in the lawsuit the councilman brought challenging the deal under which the Raiders would move to Irwindale.
But a lawyer for the public-interest law firm representing plaintiffs in the suit said it would make little difference to the case because an Irwindale resident, Fred Barbosa, would remain a plaintiff, allowing the legal challenge to go on.
Jones said in a court hearing that he agrees with Irwindale’s contention that Bernardi has no legal standing in the case because he wouldn’t be affected by its disposition.
