Smoking Restrictions Adopted for Chicago

CHICAGO — An ordinance restricting smoking in public places in the third-largest U.S. city was overwhelmingly approved by the City Council.
The proposal was passed 33 to 8 with little debate Wednesday. The two larger cities, New York and Los Angeles, already have adopted smoking restrictions.
The ordinance, effective in 60 days, requires restaurants with 40 or more seats to set aside smoking and non-smoking areas.
