Local News in Brief : Council Denies Zoning Change
- Share via
The Rolling Hills Estates City Council has denied a request to change the zoning of property on the northeast corner of Palos Verdes Drive North and Palos Verdes Drive East from residential to commercial.
Larry Arman, who owns Re-Max Rolling Hills Realty, sought a zoning change so he could build a real estate office. His attorney, Major Langer, said the property was unsuitable for residential development because of high traffic volume and noise, but council members said they feared that other commercial ventures would seek zoning changes along Palos Verdes Drive North.
“We’ve had a strong desire to have no commercial property on the various corners” of Palos Verdes Drive North, said Councilwoman Nell Mirels. “I cannot see any pressing reason to change our zoning philosophy, particularly when I know it would lead to other pressures for zone changes.”
