CAIRO — The mummies of Rameses the Great and 26 other ancient Egyptian kings and nobles are to go on display at the Cairo Museum again after having been stored out of view for nearly a decade.
An exhibit including the glass case containing the 3,300-year-old mummy of Rameses II will be readied for showing early next year, Egyptian Cultural Minister Farouk Hosni said Sunday.
Former President Anwar Sadat ordered the mummies removed from public view nine years ago, citing Islamic beliefs concerning funerals and burials.
