Rolls Dealership Compromise Plan OKd

A compromise development plan that will allow a Rolls-Royce dealer to remodel his Encino car lot has been approved by a Los Angeles city zoning administrator, officials said Wednesday.
Veteran car dealer Terry York will be allowed to build a new $1-million showroom and service garage at 15800 Ventura Blvd. provided he spruces up the rear of the lot and promises to unload vehicles carrying his new $184,500 cars on his own property.
The conditions for York’s zoning variance were hammered out during negotiations with nearby homeowners in March.
York’s neighbors had complained that portions of York’s existing Rolls-Royce lot were an eyesore and that his mechanics sometimes sped down nearby streets during test drives.
Associate Zoning Administrator Jon Perica said new landscaping and shielded lighting will be required as part of the remodeling project. And test drives through the neighborhood will be prohibited, he said.
