Scott King, the Poly High track coach who led the Parrots to four consecutive East Valley League championships, has been named head coach at Birmingham.
King, 36, compiled a record of 64-8 in 10 years at Poly. He succeeds Gary Mazziotti, who left Birmingham to become the coach at Alemany.
“Birmingham is the premier track, as far as a high school facility, in Southern California,” said King, who graduated from Reseda High and Humboldt State. “I’m looking forward to concentrating on coaching and teaching P. E.”
At Poly, King said his teaching duties were split between physical education and ornamental horticulture.
