International Container Systems has won a $500,000 suit against a Los Angeles firm for copying its patented Port-A-Pet beverage cases, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Tampa, Fla.-based International Container said it had filed suit in November, 1985, against Rehrig-Pacific Co. in U.S. District Court in Pennsylvania. International alleged that Rehrig violated the patent rights to its Port-A-Pet beverage cases by manufacturing a similar product in Rehrig’s Erie, Pa., plant.
