COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Cleveland Indians, citing disappointment in the Colorado Springs Sky Sox record, have dismissed Manager Steve Swisher and Aurelio Rodriguez, a coach.
“They thought our club was stronger than it played,” Sky Sox president and general manager Fred Whitacre said. “They used the time-worn cliche that the chemistry wasn’t right.”
The Sky Sox finished next to last in the Pacific Coast League with a 62-77 record in their first season in Colorado Springs.
Swisher had been with the Indians’ organization for five years.
Whitacre said he was hopeful a new manager would be announced before the World Series.
