SAN DIEGO — In just 6 weeks, Rancho Buena Vista has made an impressive jump to the top of The Times’ San Diego County high school football rankings.
The Longhorns, who started the season ranked No. 10, completed their run to No. 1 Friday night with a 35-22 victory over previous No. 1 Oceanside. Rancho Buena Vista (6-0) now seems to have an excellent shot at finishing unbeaten in just its second regular season of football. But two of the Longhorns’ remaining four games are against ranked teams, including No. 9 El Camino Friday.
Oceanside (5-1) fell to No. 2 with its loss. Morse is No. 3. The Tigers meet the only newcomer to this week’s rankings, No. 9 Patrick Henry, Friday afternoon at Morse.
