San Jose State 36, Utah State 31--Johnny Johnson ran for a school-record 228 yards in 35 and 2 touchdowns as the Spartans rallied for a victory at San Jose.
Johnson broke the mark of 227 yards set by Charlie Harraway in 1965.
Brent Snyder completed 24 of 50 passes for 412 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Aggies (2-5, 2-2.)
Ken Lutz completed 23 of 43 passes for 378 yards and 3 touchdowns for San Jose (3-5, 3-0).
CS Sacramento 30, Pacific 21--Tony Trosin completed 18 of 31 passes for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns, including 2 to tight end Marlin Meggerf as the Hornets beat the Tigers in a nonconference game at Stockton.
Meggerf, who had 5 receptions for 119 yards, caught his touchdown passes in the 2nd quarter.
Jim Gill added 3 field goals for the Hornets 6-1. Pacific is 1-6.
