Kevin Sperr scored the winning goal 2 minutes into the second overtime period as La Verne defeated Occidental, 4-3, in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference soccer match at La Verne on Thursday.
Sperr’s goal helped La Verne (9-1) remain in a first-place tie with Claremont in the conference standings.
Carl Burmeister scored 2 goals and Jay Caba added another goal for Occidental (8-8-2, 7-4 in conference play).
