Screaming at Sam

Patrick Goldstein’s assertion that Sam Kinison is “one of the few comics today who echoes Lenny Bruce’s blasphemous social satire” contains about as much truth as Barry Minkow’s profit-and-loss statements (“What Makes Sammy Scream?” Nov. 20).
Kinison beats up on the same people Bruce so brilliantly defended (minorities, nonconformists, anyone to the left of Rev. Billy James Hargis).
In so doing, he plays to and is rewarded by precisely those whom Bruce savaged: the “majority” of intolerant, Bible-toting fascists.
For his efforts, Kinison goes platinum. Bruce went crazy.
