EDMONTON, Canada — A $75,000 life-sized, bronze statue of Wayne Gretzky will be erected at the Northlands Coliseum to honor the former Edmonton Oilers center’s contribution to the city.
A public rally that the hockey star will attend also is in the works, said Olivia Butti, chairwoman of a task force set up to decide on a tribute for Gretzky.
The statue will be unveiled at the rally, probably in September.
It will be a likeness of Gretzky with his arms raised, holding the Stanley Cup.
