Women’s Basketball Roundup : Fullerton Wins, Extends Streak Against UCSB

Cal State Fullerton beat UC Santa Barbara for the second time this season Saturday night, scoring a 62-43 victory in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game at Titan Gym.
Gena Miller scored 29 points to lead Fullerton (16-4, 8-3) and teammate Felicia Benson added 12 points. UCSB dropped to 7-13 and 3-9 in conference play.
The victory was Fullerton’s 15th in a row over UCSB. The Titans, ranked 34th in the nation and currently in fourth place in the conference, have not lost a game to UCSB since the 1975-76 season.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:
Cal Baptist 83, Christ College Irvine 54--Cal Baptist dominated inside play, getting 26 points from 6-2 center Sonja Akkerman and 19 from forward Marybeth Reuss. Christ College Irvine (7-15, 1-5) was led by Michelle Ferris with 20 points. Cal Baptist (5-1 in conference) led at halftime, 34-27.
Cal Lutheran 72, Southern California College 62--Heidi Griffith’s 21 points led visiting Cal Lutheran (6-13, 3-4) to a come-from-behind victory.
Southern California College led at halftime, 34-25, but Cal Lutheran cut the lead to seven with five minutes remaining and then went on a 15-3 run to put the game out of reach.
Jennifer Hartigan led the Lady Vanguards with 14 points.
