John Tower’s Nomination

Can anyone give me a sane reason why the nomination of Tower to be secretary of defense should be considered by the Senate Armed Services Committee for more than 30 seconds when over a two-year period Tower took $750,000 from companies doing business with the Defense Department?
So much for ethics in government!
