Gun Control Controversy
The Second Amendment to the Constitution clearly states the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms. Because of the First Amendment, I am able to write this letter. When did we start selectively choosing which of these basic rights we will apply? Do a few rotten apples cause us to ignore our Bill of Rights? People can and will find ways to hurt their fellow man. There has been an increase in the use of pipe bombs lately in Southern California. Where is public outcry for pipe control?
The knee-jerk reaction of banning a specific class of weapons can lead to the long-term result of total gun control and/or removal of all guns from the hands of honest citizens. It would be a horrendously unbalanced situation if the only people with firearms are criminals and police.
Taking firearms from the citizenry is the first step in establishment of a police state.
