Sockers’ Toth Has Foot Surgery; Goalkeeper Signed

Socker goalie Zoltan Toth, out since early this season with bunions, had successful foot surgery Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, trainer Bill Taylor said.
Toth, with the Sockers since May of 1984, faces approximately six months of rehabilitation, but is expected to be ready for next season’s opener.
In a continuing quest to find a backup goalkeeper to take pressure off starter Victor Nogueira, the Sockers have signed Otto Orf II to a 10-day contract. Orf, who just completed his fourth season in the American Indoor Soccer Assn. with the Fort Wayne Flames, will likely play this weekend when the Sockers travel to Tacoma (Friday) and Wichita (Saturday).
