Nesting Bald Eagles Adopt Orphaned Chick

CONCORD, N. H. — State wildlife officials reported Monday that New Hampshire’s first nesting pair of bald eagles in 40 years has adopted an orphaned bald eagle chick from New York.
The chick, born in Burnet Park Zoo in Syracuse, was placed in the eagles’ nest on Friday in an experiment to determine if the adult birds would assume the role of foster parents.
The eagles produced their own chick on May 23, but, when it died last week, wildlife officials decided to replace it with the zoo chick.
