Firebomb Tossed in House; Woman Hurt

An Altadena woman suffered second- and third-degree burns over most of her body early Friday morning after a Molotov cocktail tossed through her bedroom window set her single-story home ablaze, authorities said.
Cennie Elaine Earby, 34, suffered burns over 90% of her body when her home at 578 W. Palm St. was firebombed about 2:15 a.m., a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Nine people in the home escaped unharmed.
Earby was airlifted to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena and, hours later, flown to the Sherman Oaks Burn Center. Earby, who Sheriff’s Department spokesmen said was dragged from the house by three unnamed people, is listed in critical condition at the burn center.
Department spokesmen said they suspect that the bombing may have been in retaliation for an earlier, undisclosed gang-related incident.
