Remembering the Phenomenon Called Woodstock
- Share via
Amid all the sociological babbling about the Woodstock anniversary, it must be remembered that the reason people went there was the music .
My memories are mainly of the audience; it was the best I have ever been a part of, regardless of size. The people there were enthusiastic, but they also courteous and quiet enough to allow all to appreciate the music.
Calendar’s Woodstock articles appeared on the day the Playboy Jazz Festival in Los Angeles ended. I have long since given up trying to listen to jazz among 18,000 people who wouldn’t know how to behave at their best friend’s wedding.
