Squire Rushnell, the veteran ABC children’s programs vice president who was named to a new post in 1987 as vice president of late night and children’s television, is leaving the network to pursue other interests. Rushnell, 50, has been with ABC since 1974 and helped launch the network’s acclaimed “Afterschool Specials” and “Weekend Specials” for children. He also was executive in charge of “Good Morning America” from 1978-81. Rushnell was not immediately available for comment on his future plans.
