American Legion Baseball : Ljubetic’s Fourth Hit Lifts Van Nuys to 8-7 Victory

Tony Ljubetic had four hits, including a game-winning single in the eighth inning, to lift Van Nuys-Notre Dame to an 8-7 victory over Sun Valley in an Eastern Division District 20 American Legion baseball game Friday at Poly High.
Van Nuys-Notre Dame (10-10) parlayed five hits into six runs in the third and scored again in the fourth. Kevin Milligan had three hits and four teammates had two each.
Marlon McKinney had three hits for Sun Valley (12-9), including an RBI single in the sixth inning that tied the score, 7-7.
In another District 20 game:
Reseda 11, Foothill Valley 9--Tom Gibson had a three-run home run in the third and a grand slam in the fourth to keep Reseda’s playoff hopes alive at Casey Stengel Field in Glendale.
Chad Calabria was four for four and scored twice for Reseda (11-10). Despite allowing 14 hits and nine earned runs, Mario Valencia (3-3) pitched a complete game.
Mike Regan and Victor Ramirez each had three hits for Foothill Valley (9-13).
